Good VPN solution?

by Tharayman

Hi!

What soution, app or whatever do you guys use for VPN? I use saferVPN for my computers, and tried sideloading it into androidTV. Did not do me any favours as it makes my connection ridiculously slow at times, and I am not able to find it and access it again :)

Just got an email that NordVPN now has an ATV app. I installed it, but haven't set it up yet so I can't comment a whole lot right now.

I use PIA. It allows you to do per app VPN, autostart and also has a built in adblocker that blocks ads on YouTube.

I'm running KeepSolid VPN Unlimited. Go to StackSocial.com. I bought a lifetime license for $40. https://stacksocial.com/sales/vpn-unlimited-lifetime-subscription . When you sign up, you'd get another 10% off.

I have VPN Unlimited too, I brought it from StackSocial too, 3-4 months ago, try to find a coupon, I brought lifetime from like 20 bucks.

I use It for IPTV with mibox over open vpn app, works 99% of time

Been using ExpressVPN as it's one of the only ones I've found that will bypass the Netflix Geoblocking in Australia. Plus they have an app that doesn't need to be sideloaded.

I'm using Mullvad via OpenVPN. Love it.

I have a lifetime to PIA but only use it on my Android TV because it's an easy switch on/off.

For your problems of accessing it again: are you using Sideload launcher by chainfire? It let's you access Sideloaded app from your android TV home screen.

I am using Private Internet Access, the speed is great (on a PC I get around 150-200 Mb/s max.; On Android devices it's usually around 40Mb/s encrypted and 80Mb/s unencrypted) and they do not log any of your activities, as a inquiry by the FBI showed ( https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-providers-no-logging-claims-tested-in-fbi-case-160312/ ), which to me is important because if I have all my traffic running over the network of somebody else I don't want them to be able to use my private data for their own gain.

I use PureVPN subscription and it works fine. The app is compatible with Android TVs and you can make changes in the app as well. I bought their 3 year subscription for $69 on their on-going anniversary deal.

Any VPN that allows you to download .opvn profiles, which is most.

OpenVPN have an app that is easy to setup and works great on Android TV.

  • I can easily switch between profiles and set a default profile to run on start up
  • disable the VPN on a per app basis, so if Netflix wont work with a profile you regularly use you can have Netflix run outside the VPN while everything else uses the VPN

I'm currently using UnlimitedVPN in this configuration and everything runs flawlessly. I've never had any speed issues using my Shield using 5Ghz Wi-Fi

Will a sideloaded VPN keep running in the background or will it shut down if processor/ram needs of other apps goes too high?

I have my router setup with a VPN that I turn on when needed and then everything on the network is tunneled.
