Ours sits on our dresser and went to sleep when closing the drawer. Checked all the cords for a loose connection and couldn't duplicate it. Also having some random bt and wifi issues today out of nowhere.
Hope I don't have some hardware on the fritz.

Could you have possibly touched the logo on the top of the shield? I didn't realize that was a capacitive button when I first got mine.
Edit: evidently this is only on the older version
I've had my shield sleep when not using for ~10 minutes, sure it wasn't just coincidence you closed the draw at that moment?
It sleeps if you switch the HDMI input, so possibly that got dislodged slightly.
