Clarifications:

Oreo final build is forthcoming to all users as an OTA update. Small user group was provided with Oreo build 2094 at end of April. Incremental builds have only sustained minor spelling and grammar mods that extend across all language packs.

I don't have it in a form that can be released so please don't ask. It will only be made available via OTA.

Nougat development was canned because Amlogic never provided acceptable code fixes to their S905X-H Nougat Kernel, which had been promised for years.

Amlogic finally incorporated promised kernel fixes into S905X-H Oreo kernel, and that has been Xiaomi's ongoing focus.

There is but 1 official AndroidTV capable model. MDZ-16-AB, which offers native support for dozens of major world languages.

The exact same hardware as initially introduced will be refreshed with an updated remote which will better accommodate the Google Assistant which is incorporated into Oreo.

Each and every model Xiaomi has introduced, before or since MDZ-16-AB, has been uniquely designed for their home market, PRC, and is subject to the strict regulations enforced by Chinese government authorities. As such, they lack most features that users outside the PRC take for granted.

Specifically, the Mibox 4 models are built on a crippled set of socs that will not sustain official AndroidTV, much less an acceptable android AOSP. Don't buy model 4 mibox unless you read Chinese or live within borders of PRC.

Sadly most are still on 6 no eta for Oreo

Max_Roc

I'm on 6 and good with it. Won't be upgrading even if available.

Nougat 1560 but i regret updating it, MM was more stable (all cores enabled, YouTube working, Netflix A/V synced), too bad there isn't a simpler way to downgrade. But Oreo is coming (HA!)

I keep both mine on 6. If I update to a beta and break it, my family blames me for it so I just keep it simple and stay with what I got which works fine for what I use it for.

My lady still has 7.0 beta 924 on hers & it's runs fine, 4 cores in Kodi & everything.

6, but I have a question, would Xbox One tv adapter(European) work with live channels?

Just wait for Oreo. Unlike 7, Oreo is actually being put on new shipments of Mi Boxes, isn't a beta, and shown off by Xiaomi. So it's 100% coming out "soon".

Xiaomi isn't good at timelines, but I'm hoping buy the end of this month (about 10 days). Worse case, it will be out by the time Shield gets it out to the masses (ie, if Xiaomi have same issues)
