It's in closed beta, not out yet for the public. The best you can do is sideload the Nougat beta(1506 is the newest I think).

You saw wrong. It is not available yet.
They released a non-beta update to a small number of users. The mass rollout should be fairly soon. I would skip the 7 beta.
What's the big deal about upgrading to Oreo? I've been using mine for almost 2 years and don't see any issues. Did have Netflix audio sync issues but rebooted the device and all is fine again.
Now running Vaders apk and cancelled our cable. Box does it all for us.
You didn't "Google" quite thoroughly enough, unfortunately. Android TV Oreo for the Xiaomi MiBox 3 was released to registered Beta testers back sometime around the end of April, with the last update sometime around the end of May. It was never released as an OTA upgrade and there are no side-load downloads available. Xiaomi has not announced when, if ever, it's going to be made available as an upgrade for existing MiBox 3's. All there is is speculation and wishful thinking at this point.
Oreo update is live now. Just downloaded it.
I've just bought a mi box and the firmware was updated even without asking. Now it seems this version is buggy. Is it possible to downgrade to the previous version?
I bought 3 units as well back on May 1 when it was vigorously publicized that the units would receive oreo. After looking over the various mi box forums it is clear that this may have been a waste of effort. As others have mentioned, nougat is a bit questionable (though 1035 or 1028 are somewhat reasonable). At any rate, fortunately I bought them from Wally World with a 90 day return- so I'll give them about 4 more weeks to get it out, or get out. I've been in tech waaaaay too long to get burned again by false vaporware promises. Good luck and hold onto that receipt.

Does it get updated with the system? I can't quite get it updated over play store, because there is no update button.
Also, netflix started to desync audio... .__. Seems like I'm going to refund it.
