Hi, recently bought an Mi box 3 from Aliexpress. I received an update right after switching it on first time to build 1901. Now the google play services keeps crashing every few seconds, so I cannot use play store or play music or any app to do with Google. I tried removing account and re-adding, factory resetting the box. How do I fix this? Thanks.
Most likely you haven't given location permissions to it when setting the device up, and since you installed it again from USB you gave it the permissions.. Been there
Think this is specific to miboxes located outside US and is a google-server side glitch. Ideally Google will fix it on their side and resolve the location problem.
Only seen long ago when MiBox first introduced, took 4-5 days to get it corrected.
Download the latest Google Play Services for Android TV APK from here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services-android-tv/
Copy the APK to a USB drive, pop it into the Mi Box, download a file manager like X-plore and install the APK from your USB drive. That should fix the problem.
While you're at APKMirror, you might also want to grab the latest version of the Google Play Store. That doesn't seem to update automatically on new boxes, either.
