I would bet MiBox will work for you. At the moment I have a Philips PU8102 and Mi box hooked to it and I have noticed that Mi Box can handle higher bitrates than the TV when it comes to 4K videos. I am using Kodi + PKC. Although there are limits to the MiBox so if possible get a ShieldTV.
The Mi Box is fully capable of hardware decoding even the highest bitrate 4K HDR Bluray Rips you can find.
Getting all that high bitrate data that comes with Atmos or DTS:X audio into the Mi Box is the challenge when it does not come with any sort of LAN port. WiFi should never be relied upon for any sort of bulletproof video streaming. Far too many variables involved.
USB3 > Gigabit LAN Adapters sometimes work BUT everyone posting on here never mentions what adapter they are specifically using which provides no help at all.
If it is just 4K HDR Bluray Rips that need playing back a better option is a Gigabit equipped AMLogic S912 box running LibreELEC Kodi Krypton.
That combo has auto everything once setup. Auto refresh, resolution and colorspace switching. Better than what any Android Kodi, Plex, whatever device can do.
There is a whole Sub forum dedicated to such devices:
The MiBox does 4k technically, but I highly recommend against it. Save yourself the mistake of spending money on it to find out it gives up if the wind blows the wrong way. Save up and buy a shield TV. Especially if you plan on using 4k with the plex or youtube, you either need to be right next to a dedicated access point or wired in, problem is you wont get a 1gbps connection with a USB adapter.
Before you waste your money on a Mibox that most people say have issues with 4k, have you checked if there is a Plex client for your TV? Even if there isn't you can still install /r/Plex server on your pc and use it in DLNA mode and you have all the metadata you want
