Is there a way I can set up an L2TP vpn?

by dont_forget_canada

I'm in the USA but am from Canada where I still pay for Bell TV. I have the Bell TV app on my mi box but it says I have to be connected to my canadian bell wifi to use it. I have a L2TP vpn running back in canada (on a mac mini) but I can't find a way to set up an L2TP connection in android tv.

Does anyone know if this is possible using just software? I'm trying to avoid spending money on a router that supports VPNs.

Purchase cheap VPS

Install L2TP server

On ANY router, change WAN mode from Default DHCP, to L2TP.

Enter server IP and username and password.

Other even faster and easier options are SmartDNS using SNIproxy server. All you have to do is change the DNS address on your router. Problem with this is it is exposed to the world, so you will have to use IP tables firewall to restrict access per IP.

Sideload the open vpn app. Might have to use keyboard and mouse to configure but it should work after that.
