Mi box or something else?

by sotirisbos

Hello! I already have a Mi box in our living room and I am very pleased with it.

I am looking to buy 3 more Android/Android TV boxes for the rest of the house.

I wanted the Mi box for 4K Netflix but I cancelled my subscription, bought a server and I am now only using Plex at 1080p.

We only use it for Plex and YouTube, no gaming or anything.

I am looking for something cheap and preferably running Android TV so that my elder family members don't have two different UIs to get used to.

Is there anything else I should be looking at or should I just go for 3 more Mi's?

Thank you!

Edit: Just ordered 3 more Mi boxes for 58 EUR each.

If you are just looking for streaming video, the Mi Box will probably be the best for you. Anything else cheaper than it doesn't run official AndroidTV.. that I know of.

you can check HERE for what's available in your country.

if you don't need Chromecast, Netflix, Amazon, you can consider the new Mecool boxes, which run AndroidTV but have some stuff missing. They are perfect for Plex, but may need some aftermarket adaptations (like cooling)

or go ahead with the mi boxes, just make sure you have a good return policy as the more you get, the more chance you'll end up with a dud

My house is one Shield and three Mi Boxes. Works out well.
