Received update this AM. The microphone button triggers but it does not seem to hear my voice and doesn't do the familiar Google 'ting'. Tried clearing cache, no luck. Anyone else having this issue?

Yes it works for me. I did a factory reset after upgrading to Oreo though if that makes a difference.
Yes. Have you rebooted again after the update? I did just for a clean boot.
