So I've bought my Mi Box few months ago to watch 4K HDR10 .mkv rips, and was seriously disappointed. Kodi was unable to switch to HDR, system performance was mediocre, frame rate did not switch automatically, basically nothing worked as it should. I've sold it.
Now that the update is out, how much better it feels? What's fixed and what's not? Wondering if I need to get another one.
Crap. 4K is super laggy, NFS on Kodi seems completely broken. Fuck Xiaomi.

I bought it for the exact same reason. My internet connection is bad for streaming so all I watch are 4k and 1080p rips off my portable HDD. The Mibox is a waste of money.

Before the update, YouTube was massively broken for me on both Marshmallow and Nougat Beta, 90% of the videos wouldn't play (something to do with the vp9 codec), so I had to use the Smart YouTube TV app to be able to watch videos and even then, casting YouTube from my phone never worked. Now it's all fixed, I don't need to use the third party app anymore and casting works properly.
As for performance, it feels much smoother, although I'm not sure if that's a placebo effect of the new interface (which is much better imo)
