I don't know what the "Dolby Sounds" and "DTS sounds" are for, but the "Auto" is for the device to auto detect if it has Dolby/DTS audio decoding by the AV receiver and/or TV, "Always" is for TVs without Dolby/DTS decoders built-in so you can get 5.1 audio by forcing the device to convert on-the-fly Dolby Digital Plus streams from Netflix for example, and "Never" is if you want to downmix 5.1 audio into stereo.
It doesn't work on Netflix though, when I select "Always" and then I select any 5.1 stream it doesn't output audio from any of the audio connections, the same is for Play Movies and TV.
WTF you talking about?
