Shield TV With Oreo Forces New Youtube App

The old trick to uninstall Youtube no longer works to get the old app back.

Trying to force install youtube version 1.3.11 .apk doesn't work, it installs then says "It didn't work" or something. Maybe a version mismatch type error? You can't uninstall the new Youtube app, only disable it.

I'm guessing I'm boned?

Before someone asks, I don't like the cobalt web browser youtube, the native older version listed all my subs by how often I watch them and allowed voice search.

The new YouTube app lists my subs by how often I watched them. Well, seven are listed in the order of most watched.

I didn't really use the original app so I'm not sure how different it originally was. Sorry for the confusion. 😌

I avoided the new app just as you say but now that I got it I actually like it. More convenient. The problem was that before it didn't handle the YouTube account correctly (it wanted to just my Google account). Now that it does I don't have a reason to prefer the old app.

While voice search is there, I concede that it seems like more steps to use
