Downgrading to last official build before official Oreo update on Mi Box?

by callmeyourbanana

With al these issues with the new update, I am on my wits end and thinking of just downgrading to the latest Marshmallow OS before this update.

I am fairly new to Android TV and Mi Box. So does anyone have a step by step tutorial on how to do this safely? What was the latest official build before the Oreo update? Where can I download it for my Mi Box? Thanks a bunch.

Did you try installing the Oreo update before downgrading? Mine was in 1506 (or whatever the latest beta Nougat build was) and the update was pretty seamless. Tested out some apps and Bluetooth connectivity and everything is working fine.

I advise you to refrain from downgrading to stable marshmallow as doing so might remove your Netflix DRM.

Happy updating!

Fix audio:

It's 2018

2.4GHz only WiFi should not be used for reliable streaming of anything in a modern RF environment. Far to easily subject to interference. Get a Dual Band AC home WiFi router. Or better still use a Ugreen USB3 > Gigabit Ethernet adapter.

NTFS HDD issues, a bug fixed update will have to be released to fix that.

Are you just having audio issues? There seem to be a solution to it in this sub (forget exactly what, but it's an audio setting thing thing).

I haven't seen anyone stating other major bugs though. There was mention of an issue with external hard drives, but VLC has no issue reading or playing from external.

I was on the latest MM build. Everything worked fine. On Oreo I can't find a solution to the audio problem. The only ly way may be the downgrade

The mi box does not allow the bootloader to be unlocked. When you installed oreo you installed oreo bootloader. Its locked, so you're locked to oreo.

Literally buy another mi box that isn't running oreo and don't update it is your only choice or you risk wiping all the DRM that makes the box worth the extra $40 over a $20 mecool or m8s. Quality boxes like the shield allow the bootloader to be unlocked even temporarily which permit installing any previous OS. The Nexus player also allowed this. Bootloader unlocking is also required for root purposes, why the mi box can't be rooted.

Sorry you're getting "all these issues". Works perfectly for me. Just saying, in case it seemed more than a few people were having problems.
