How to improve xiaomi mi box storage?

by ricardob15

I have a couple of questions the main one is as the title implies.

  1. How do you guys manage your mi box storage, I don't have a lot of apps but since is very limited sometimes it says I'm running out of space how to expand the storage memory, how you guys don't or what you do ( mainly use it as streaming )???

  2. How do you guys have you mi box configured, in other words do you have them customized or something is it possible? Post pics if you can

  3. Any tricks or tips for the mi box I might have missed or might not know about?

I have an Ethernet adapter with I think 4 USB ports in case this helps for question number 1

  1. I use a high capacity usb thumb drive set as internal storage

Two tips.

  1. Use an external pen drive
  2. Do NOT use kodi, a.k.a. MiBox killer.

Clearing cache (Settings, Storage, Internal, select Cache... It will clear it from there).

That's normally all I do and never have a space issue. It's Kodi or SMPC that swell to huge sizes. If you have one of them than you have to get an add-on to clean the junk files within Kodi.

I use to use a large storage thumb drive, but didn't need it. With AndroidTV's lack of apps, large storage isn't needed unless you have your own media, and then network drives would be more convenient.

To be frank i have never found the solution to this, expanding available storage on the Mibox that is.

I download media frequently from apps on the Mibox, and I can never set it to download to either:

  1. External USB drive or;
  2. Adopted USB drive

I’ve kinda given up on this and wished I bought the 500gb shield instead..

Personally I use es explorer to clear junk and duplicate files, and use the box mainly for streaming.
