I just took Oreo update. Excellent no problems
Would anyone be interested in a "Mi Box Pro" with better CPU/GPU/RAM/storage oriented for gaming or would you choose the Nvidia Shield instead?
I hope this one comes with TRUE Dolby Audio support and not the bogus support on current Mi Box.
I wonder if the new versions work with Denon receivers...with the Oreo update I can't use it due to saying my TV is not HDCP 2.2 compatible...which it is.
isnt this just a rehash of the same box but with the new remote an Oreo pre installed - though fingers crossed they have solved SW/HW issue around hdcp, and no im not talking netflix here. Ths is the issue where no image is displayed ar all ain an OS version higher than Marshmallow. It seems to show if you have the mibox connected to a av amp/sound bar and part of the chain (likey the TV) isnt hdcp 2.2, something in the newer builds is causing a failure as this worked previously.
if you have this issue can you PM the make/model of your amp/soundbar and TV please, im trying to see if there's any theme so I can pass thie info onto Xiaomi
I hope they added an Ethernet port this time, or at least USB 3.0 port! I have very good speed internet but my Mibox is limited by shitty Wifi Router and it not having an ethernet/USB3 port.
One or two extra GB of RAM wouldn't hurt either :D
Would be nice to get an Android TV box with Dolby Vision and Youtube HDR support.
So should I hold out buying a Mi Box 3, and wait for this new one?
Honestly, I'm a little disappointed, but I'm not sure I have a reason to be.
The S905-series is capable for video decoding, but is always tied to a Mali-450, which is not great. Gaming suffers.
But the S905-based box I've got in my bedroom doesn't ever see any gaming anyways. The Shield TV in my living room does. Maybe I'm being petty.
With that SoC, they're selling it as a streamer box, not as a gaming box. That Amlogic is hard-pressed to keep up with a Snapdragon 835, much less a Tegra X.
Internal pictures show an Amlogic S905X-H.
So it's basically the same SoC.
