Android TV boxes with 4 usb plugs and bluetooth?

by Fire-Dragon-DoL

I'm looking for a device to do the following things:

  • Run netflix
  • Play anything from a plex server
  • Play anything that VLC server is streaming (from desktop pc)
  • Use the (very) new steam link app

Based on this requirements, I clearly need:

  • Good networking. Wifi is OK but having the option of ethernet is even better (I'd use a powerline to reach the tv)
  • Bluetooth (otherwise I cannot play keyboard/mouse games easily)
  • 4 USB ports (because party games are my favourite with friends) or 1 usb with support for USB hub : I would like to plug my 4 xbox360 wired controllers in there

And obviously, Android TV, not "android tablet put on a tv box". Is there any device matching these specs which you would recommend?

I'm checking the nvidia shield but it seems over-specced for my requirement: I won't run any games natively, I have a desktop pc running 24/7

Why would you need 4 usb ports on the box? Just connect a usb hub!

There is no branded device like that. Even the shield has only 2 normal usb 3 and one micro

Mi Box with Oreo doesn't currently read USB drives because it's missing a file (com.android.documentsui) which it needs to properly assign external storage (sans for network access via VLC/Total Commander) & I already tried ripping it from my Shield & installing on the Mi Box, no such luck.. yet.

Unless someone worked out a fix I may have missed since yesterday?

Mi Box meets your requirements. But I'll still recommend forking over more money and getting a Shield instead.

I ended up buying the NVIDIA SHIELD TV. Extremely nice!

Also, it works crazy well with steam streaming.

I did buy a powerline just for safety (I don't want hiccups while playing and running on wifi). I don't get latency, and it's a pleasure to play from the couch.

Really nice!

Mi Box works fine for this. Get a 4 port + Ethernet hub for maximum Steam Link performance.
