Mi Box slow wifi (download) speeds after Oreo update

by milespeters

Ever since updating my Mi Box to Oreo I noticed the download speeds on the box have decreased by 50%, my upload speeds are perfectly fine.

Initially the WiFi connection started dropping after the Oreo update but I had to reconnect to the wifi using wps instead of manually typing the password, which resolved the issue.

My router sits right next to the Mi Box and none of my other devices are experiencing slow download speeds. Anyone experiencing similar issues or know what the problem is?

Did you factory reset after updating? If not, this might fix your issues..

Same for me, Was 200 Mbts to 80 mbts after a factory reset (wih Speedtest)

Can we downgrade? This is a known issue at the moment.

Has there been a fix for this yet? My in-laws have the Mi Box, and YouTube keeps buffering and stopping. I checked on "Stats for Nerds" and it shows an obscene amount of dropped frames, along with less than 1 Mbps download. And of course, the buffer health is very bad.

Netflix also takes a long time to buffer, and it always ends up poor quality to compensate for the slow speeds.

I found the rootcause of my problem. Maybe it will help. I've found out that wifi connection is having issues while Bluetooth device connected to mi box. And I had Bluetooth speakerphones... It took a lot of time to realize that. Looks like wifi and Bluetooth modules not very well isolated from each other

I just checked and my download speed is between 25-50% slower (did the test a few times). My upload speed is consistently 50% slower.

I never noticed, but can see it being an issue for those with 15 or 20 speed internet. Hopefully the patch will fix it.

Edit: Rebooted my router and I'm back to normal again.

I have same issue. Used to Max out my speed at 125. Just got upgraded to 175 and I'm only getting 60.

There's been internet issues all over the country the last few days. You should be using something to test the local WiFi speed.. not internet speed
