MI Box setup without original remote

Question

I've been using a fire tv remote as my original mi box remote broke. I had to do a factory reset and it seems I can't get through the setup without the original remote. Any idea on a way to get around this without having to buy a replacement mibox remote from China that'll take a month to arrive?

perhaps, use USB keyboard (?) or Android TV Remote app to validate HDMI CEC (and then you can use your TV set remote).

If you have something with a programmable IR blaster such as a phone from when most came with one you could use that

I used my Yamaha receiver remote.
