Yeah I'm having the same issue, have to hard reset to get it back on. Would love a solution!
It seems like your MiBox is affected by delayed sleep phase disorder
Try doing a factory reset on it. I was having that issue plus a couple of others (Plex issue, ended up being server side) and the reset seems to have fixed the power problem.
I can't promise it'll work, but I haven't noticed the issue since.
I've heard it doesn't sleep now, goes directly to off, and if you press the power button on the remote you won't be able to turn it on without reconnecting the power cable. The reason why I'm putting off updating.
I have the same problem. Not sure if a factory reset would help. After the upgrade to Oreo I factory reset it anyway. The moment it switches on though (unplugging and plugging in), it works properly with the remote.

Im having the same issue on my Nvidia Shield
Same problem here as well. Have tried repairing the remote (hold home + back) but haven't tried a factory reset yet.
I have this problem too. I just leave the box on now. It's very annoying.
Enabling developer options on settings, then enabling "stay awake" solved all my problems so far.
What happens if you use the voice command "shit down?" Will it wake up after a long sleep?
