WiFi issues on Shield after Oreo update

by xander42

Every since updating my Shield to Oreo I'm having WiFi issues.

It either fails to connect to my WiFi network, or if it does connect the connection is very slow.

Did anyone else encounter this issue?

I had no issues with the Shield before the Oreo update.

It's a hit or miss issue. I seen a few threads about it with Mi Box, but no solution yet. Hopefully the fix will come soon.

Upgraded to Oreo about 2 weeks ago, no issue so far with WiFi dropping off.

Just encountered this today after having updated my shield a little while ago.

Worked fine and then all of a sudden no network on wireless.

I did the update a week or so ago. I keep having issues dropping wifi and the ethernet connection.

One would drop so I would switch to the other and it would work for a while then drop... rinse repeat. Now I have them both connected and I get messages when one drops off but I dont lose connection anymore. I guess this is my temporary fix.

I've run into the similar issues. My wi-fi is very slow, and streaming from my directly connected plex is iffy. A lot of my apps are now crashy(specifically HBO Go). Is there a way to revert this update?

Having this issue on my Shield too. I randomly get the Ethernet not connected notification! Hopefully they fix it soon!

After update on shield wifi keeps dropping. Had no issues. However I have now noticed that when running VPN is when the issue is coming up. I have a 60meg download speed. Without VPN no issues. I will be doing more test today and inform all.

After the Oreo update, my wifi would constantly drop then come back. It was really spotty. Tonight I did the 7.2 update, a small part of me hoping it might fix the wifi. Instead of fixing it, my wifi is dead. Not only is it not connected, But the shield doesn't see that it has a wifi adapter at all.

I do have a minor workaround. I have one of those google wifi setups, with one of the satellite points right next to the TV. I've just run an ethernet cable to the satelite point, so it's like ethernet over wifi. But it's still spotty and drops a lot.
