Mi Box - Downgrade from Oreo to MM

by arcadium_cs

Hey guys. I was aware of Oreo bugs and chose to not update my box.

But today it updated it self while I was sleeping (how Google allow it upgrade an entire android version without user permission?).

So far, several issues as expected and I would like to know if someone tried this tutorial below or another one to downgrade back to MM.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't done it because I haven't run into any moderate or big issues with Oreo. The small stuff I have seen can wait for the next update.

Looking at the thread though, it seems like people are having success with it. I suggest you go through it and see for yourself. Good luck and hope MM will continue to be better for you (non-sarcastically)!

So far the mibox can't wake up after about 24 hours and wifi is extremely slow now.

Thanks for this. I have been thinking about downgrading. Oreo is not allowing voice typing into SPMC like it did in previous Android version. I love and miss this functionality.

I haven't had a single issue with Oreo. I actually use the mi box over my Roku now.

Okay, even if we have a way to downgrade to MM in the future it will just update back to OREO.

It's doing the same approach what Nexus Player has done.

The only way to keep it not updating is to either have a custom recovery install or have root to disable the system's OTA services.

So right now its useless to downgrade even if there's a way to downgrade because of the persistent OTA up xiaomi has imposed.

Could somebody please explain to me like I'm five why my auto updated Mi Box (and consequently Kodi) now thinks my 4tb hard drive has something odd like 600gb and neither will allow me to even browse the files?

Thanks in advance and apologies if this should be posted elsewhere.

Same with the mouse problems! I hope in a new update these bugs are fixed else I'll try the downgrade even though I don't know much about all the steps for do it.

Since update to Oreo the mi box keeps turning itself back on from standby so automatically changes source on tv constantly unless I plug it out or turn off hdmi cec on tv

What bugs have you experienced with Oreo?

Been using mine since the update rolled out and I haven't noticed any issue yet.

Here we go again....

The small and little to none oreo bugs you can live with, until a new update arrives.

Only stupid people not resetting their device after a full upgrade, complains like babies needing breast feed.
