Kodi on Oreo on MiBox - not running in background?

by hydraSlav

I've updated my MiBox to Oreo (no regrets). However I am noticing that everytime I start Kodi (SPMC), it starts from scratch (splash screen, loading theme, loading widgets, running library update, etc).

Previously, even when using other MiBox apps (YouTube), Kodi would remain running in background, and switching back to it took seconds.

Is this a change with Oreo that everyone is experiencing? Or just me? Can it be changed?

Try using kodi 17.6 or 18 alpha. Since spmc is dead as of nougat it probably don't have the bits to satisfy Oreo to stay awake in background. I'm wondering how you switch apps though. I thought Oreo killed that with the mi box

My box updated a couple of days ago and I've not had this problem. Do you happen to have a lot of extensions installed in SPMC? My SPMC installation only has PLEX + something for local streaming so it's quite small.

The memory management may have changed (+ the system using more memory) meaning it may have unloaded SPMC if something else needed the RAM.

It sounds like there's some file corruption. Try the nuclear option and uninstall, which will wipe all settings files, and reinstall.
