The maximum volume is definitely lower, as i had to increase the gain on my powered speakers
Turn off ALL Dolby Audio in Android settings. Do NOT have "Line" or "RF" selected.
Not sure if you fixed it, but I side loaded "Speaker Boost" onto my mi box and it raises the max volume
Not trying to patronize you, but have you turned up your Mi Box volume?
If you don't use your original remote, it's easy to overlook the mi box system volume... Especially when the update resets it back to the middle level.
