After the update, the box does not recognize 1 of the things I say, before the update it was almost perfect when looking for info or videos. The thing is that the Google assistant on my phone works perfectly, so it has to be a bug of the update or problem with the mic. Btw I factory reset the box after the update

It sucks on Android TV. My guess is the assistant on Android TV is tuned towards finding media content like YouTube videos or songs.. Lot of times even when I ask simple thing like "how's the weather today", it starts some random "how to..." Video on YouTube, while the assistant in Google home or Android phones is neutral.

Not sure if it's just me, but the mic in the MiBox remote has very poor quality. I have much better voice recognition when using the remote app on my phone. With the remote, it takes me at least 4, 5 tries of enunciation before I can search for what I want.

I had the same problem with the remote not recognizing what I said after the update. I decided to do a factory reset and that fixed the issue. The assistant is still a little slower to launch than the old version but it does work. As a bonus I can launch media in Plex by saying "play x on Plex" and it will launch. Than next time you can say "play x" and it knows to open it in Plex.

It takes a while to pop up when clicked on my Sony TV, but it does understand me well enough. Maybe try changing the language if it often doesn't understand you?

Anyone simply have an USB mic plugged into their Android TV and got the OK Google hotword working?

I have 4 Mi boxes 3 and assistant side loaded. It worked flawlessly. I press the microphone and it start understand me even the UI bar appeared, so much fast was. No lags everywhere. It's my only complain because Oreo made app launch time better.

Plus i can't change the language of the assistant, while before i could have different language for ui and the voice search

But in general it's totally useless, it's like a "search on YouTube" button
