I received the Oreo update on my Mi Box, and after installing, it boots directly into the stock recovery. What is the best way to restore it (to Oreo or any older version)? I'm used to flashing roms on phones, but I don't have a custom recovery on the Mi Box and I can't seem to find a full rom 😅
You'll need an Oreo-bootloader ROM if factory reset don't work. If I had to guess the bootloader is hosed and kicking to recovery, like designed. Images are usually found on XDA and come from Googleapi links iirc officially, or anywhere if someone rooted and dumped the image before updating. The images won't install if they aren't signed, but will install if they are regardless if they are the right version. AFAIK there's no protection from downgrade but downgrades aren't allowed with a locked bootloader, so that will break your bootloader and recovery if installed basically bricking the device.
