If your tv supports it, yes you can
Just turn on all the CEC options in the Mi Box settings menu, and make sure it's not disabled in your TV's menu either. It works great, my TV remote is in storage, don't even need it.
With CEC enabled in tv setting, it should auto shut off when putting attached HDMI device to sleep.

If you don't have CEC, than no.
It only works well on two of my tvs(sony and Vizio). On my sharp, and panasonic, it doesn't work well. On one it doesn't turn on the tv and on the other it doesn't shut off the tv.
After some time my tv turns it self off automatically. I prefer it that way so that when I switch devices to don’t have to wait for my tv to turn off and back on.
Hell, I have CEC on my Vizio, works perfectly with everything EXCEPT the Mi Box.
Maybe with CEC it can be done
