Issues with Mibox - Amazon Prime Video, 4k and others.

by Evilishdevil

Hi Guys,

I am in India and I have the latest Mibox

I have been facing couple of issue. It would be great if someone can help me with it.

Info - My Mibox has a wired connected with a speed of 50 MPBS and it is connected to 4k TV.

Its has oreo on it.

Issue 1 - The internal space of the device is just 8 GB. How can i expand the device space. I have tried using external USB and hard drives both 2.0 and 3.0 but when I launch any apps through it. Its very slow or crashes. (I also get an error your device is slow). Please help

Issue 2 - How do i watch 4k Movies. I have tried Kodi but since the internet speed is 50Mbps. It cannot buffer and if i but the movie on an external drive it just lags. Please help

Issue 3 - I would like to install and play PUBG on it. While i am able to install it but it says your device is not compatible. I know it has something to do with GPU. Is there a way around

Issue 4 - I have signed up for Amazon prime. But, I was not aware that amazon prime app is not available on Mibox. Now i have tried sideloading multiple version but nothing seems to work. I have tried installing nvidia and 4.7.9 version. Those gets installed using ES file explorer or taptoid but cannot open the apps after getting installed. The version which is available on APK pure get installed and i can launch the app and login. But it does not start any video. Please help if you were able to resolve this.

As of now amazon prime is on my xbox one x but i can't watch full screen as it has 2 black lines top and bottom which cuts the full screen.

I think Prime it's not available for any android TV (apart the shield) because Google and Amazon keep fighting like kids. My sideloaded version is the 4.7.9 and it works as expected.

Can you tell any addons to watch 4k on kodi

Prime video is working perfectly, install 4.7.9 version, it stays on home screen and it's working good, you didn't checked it properly.

First of all make sure you update your mi box to latest version. Go to settings, about, click updates.

Change your external drive USB cable, maybe it isn't perfect that's why it's unable to play 4k from external drive.

And for amazon prime videos or any video you'll see top black bars because they are in 16:9 aspect ratio. Amazon prime doesn't have any scaling etc it isn't third party video player to allow these facilities, this depends on movie and not with prime video application.

A few thoughts:

Xiaomi has released a lot of boxes called the Mibox. MDZ-16-AB is the only one actually running Android TV and containing the proper DRM rights to play Amazon Video.

I suggest trying the following to see what restrictions you are able to work with:

Microsoft Playready is required for Amazon Video.

My last thought is that it is likely that you will need VPN to use Amazon Video in India.
