I was looking into getting a Mi Box but I am seeing that people are having trouble with external HDD's (mine is a 2TB NTFS). I just need something that can play my 4K MKV files with DTS-HD MA audio.
My Mi Box works fine, but I play over my network shares instead of via usb.
Though I haven't tried 4k on my MiBox but I won't recommend using it for playing 4k especially not over USB. Mi box has USB 2.0 port and I don't think the box will be able to read and process those huge 20GB+ video files fast enough.
They released an update for the MiBox that allowed NTFS drives to work (mine does), but passthrough using Kodi is somewhat broken.
