Should I buy Philips PUS7803 or Sony XE70

by hazem19999

Mostly both Philips PUS7803 android TV and Sony XE70 with same price range, so I could not decide which one is better, I may like Ambilight in Philips TV, but is it deserve ?

On other hand, what about Samsung smart TV vs Android TV?

I'll quote myself from another thread 2 days ago:

Buy TVs based on picture quality alone. Then add whatever devices you want to it.

Best to always consider picture first then software. The best advice is to buy the best picture TV you can afford and get an AndroidTV box separately.

Having said that, not everyone wants a separate box under their TV, so built-in android is useful, but you need to accept that the built-in chipset is nowhere near the performance of the Shield.

I have Philips and Ambilight and find it quite immersive. It's even better when paired with Philips Hue. Your TV has at least 16gb storage so have space for more apps, I have to make do with 8gb.

Just FYI there is a bug in the YouTube app on Philips ATM, where it crashed on 60fps videos

Philips should have Oreo later this year.

Late to the party on this but here's my 2p... I wanted an Ambilight TV and it needed to be thin. Not that bothered by OLED (mainly as you can't get sets bigger then 55" here in the UK from Philips).

So with the above the choice was fairly simple for me: 65PUS7803 and I'm delighted with it.

There was a minor bug in Ambilight when I got the set, where it wouldn't control Hue lights correctly, but an update a week into ownership fixed that. Now it's perfect.
