Best bang for buck with true 4k? Netflix etc.

by kingflippa

New to the whole Android TV side of the operating system and I'm looking to upgrade to a true tv box that can play back 4k. Most importantly Netflix. I've heard mixed things about mibox, I'm completely lost at the very tech stuff. I don't care about audio or all the bells and whistles. I have a beelink box right now but it does not play 4k and it's not true Android TV.

Looking forward to recommendations. Thank you

Nvidia shield tv

my Mi Box runs great now with Oreo and it's set to 4K, it's really a great value for a streaming box that is far more capable than Fire TV or Apple TV... However, for a long term investment that you know will perform well and get supported I'd say get a Shield TV.

I have 2 shields.. Want to buy a Firetv 2nd gen? LOL

Picked up the second Shield last week on sale at bestbuy.. I absolutely love it.

MiBox can handle Netflix 4k or other streaming 4k just fine. However these services offer low bitrate 4k compared to what you get from 4k BluRay rips which MiBox can play but not very well.

I recently went through this as I have just bought an LG 65in C8 OLED and wanted the best quality content. previously had an N54L micro server but it creaks with some high bitrate media content at 1080p so no chance of it playing high bitrate blu-ray rips.

I got the Nvidia Shield, I've tasted it with the jell.yfish.us bitrate files and over ethernet it can stream all of the files flawlessly from the micro server, which I am using as a NAS now rather than a media server.

How about a Roku premier does 4k Netflix's plus it has Amazon.

Fire TV 4K Roku Streaming stick+ both price at 60 dollars and can do 4K netflix.

shield TV is the best for 4K videos but quite expensive. avoid mibox for now until they sorted out their firmware issues.

If you are a heavy Netflix user and want the best picture quality, smoothest playback with set and forget OS features forget about anything Android completely.

Get an Apple TV 4K, it has these killer tvOS features and the Netflix App supports them:

Auto Frame rate matching with Netflix on Android is something Android Netflix can only dream about. Apple TV 4K's are $105 with the DirecTV deals in the USA.

Use the Beelink box for LibreELEC Kodi Krypton, especially if is an AMLogic S9xx model.

You will then have the best dual hardware setup combo going around then with very few compromises.

Ive had a few of the Mecool M8S Pro L 3gb/32gb with voice control and highly recommend them, also have a shield and if money is not an option then go with Nvidia https://imgur.com/K0jOvcn
