I personally prefer Mi Box because I do not like the Prime-centric UI of FireTV.
I think this decision should be more based on UI preference and wanted apps. Both are good hardware for all your streaming needs.
Fire TV. While MiBox does have a couple apps that you’ll have to sideload, Fire TV works a whole lot better.

I have both and they are similar in speed but I'd say the biggest difference is the UI and which one you prefer. For more future proofing, go with the fire tv 3 because of 4k. Mibox 4k struggles.
If you want bugs, bugs and even more bugs buy a Mi Box.
It has the worst Firmware out of any mainstream media player on the market at the moment.
i got a FireTV 3rd gen at Primeday for 45€ to upgrade from my MiBox, because since the Oreo Update everything just went downhill, and if you have Amazon Prime it is a whole lot better than the MiBox, YouTube is the only thing that doesnt work as fast, but it works, Prime/Netflix and other Streaming Services work better on the FireTV.
FireTV for sure. More stable, and less bugs.
Mibox for sure it's great
