You do realise that the Mi Box is cheaper than the FireTV 4K in India?
Let's see the points themselves, tho, as listed in the "article":
Not everybody uses Amazon Prime.
All FireTV apps can be sideloaded.
Yes, the FireTV is smaller. Because of this, it is also hotter and more prone to TV signal interference.
Conclusion: Author is not an obsessed person who has pored over all this obsessively.
I actually am not sure --- Does it have YouTube (not in a web browser or something like that?)
You forgot to mention the lack of Chromecast
Agree. Had both and I’d buy another Fire TV before a Mi Box. Able to sideload most apps I need that aren’t officially available. Of course, just wait for eBay or Google Express deal and buy a Shield instead.
the only good about fireTV 3 is stability. it is much much stable than mibox.
wifi works (no drop or disconnect) no tiny pixel at the left side of display. digital audio works netflix working without regular error on startup. no random reboot or unable to wake up from sleep.
i hate both.. but fire TV saved my day after mibox horrible oreo update.
UK app support is far superior on AFTVs than AndroidTV.. Iplayer, 4oD, etc..
Mi Box Oreo is basically unusable for me, wifi drops constantly, audio issues occasionally.. CEC issues.. 'Stuttery' playback.. Wake issues... Etc.
I want to like AndroidTV more, even purchased a MeCool box which is shipping now. The added Chromecast, the channels ribbons, the live channels app.. All should be superior.. But Amazon has provided a much more complete app ecosystem.
Guess you live in the USA/eu?
Here in Brazil Amazon services are practically non existent, the there's no need for 4k support since most people can't afford 4k TVs and the mibox is pretty cheap. And there's the Google cast too.
Amazon Prime is indeed cheaper than Netflix here for the first 6 months , but you can always sideload Prime in the mibox. People buying any Amazon device here in Brazil (and probably in most third places) are making a really bad deal.
Actually the 4.7.9 Version of Amazon Prime Video works great with the Mi Box.
