leanbackcustomizer causes Crazy UI slowdowns?

by IlikeFirefox

Hi, I recently bought a cheap TCL TV that uses Android 7, after doing some digging I read that leanbackcustomizer app can cause significant frame drops while navigating any menus. To my surprise that 400kb app was completely killing my TV's performance. You can disable it though android apps, it will stay off until next restart. Is there any way to delete it forever without rooting the TV?

Doubt it but you can probably make a script that disabled it every boot.

Are you clearing the data and force stopping when you disable it? Doesn't seem like it should re-enable itself.

I'd factory reset my device and then disable any other apps you don't need.

Also, optimizing wifi settings may help. Do a site survey using a wifi analyzer app and fine tune your settings.

I think you and I have the same tv (p2mus). Will try this tonight!

By the way, did you manage to play something from Amazon prime?

UPDATE: I found the "LeanbackCustomizer" entry in system settings but I don't have a button/option to disable it. Version is 1.0.01.57489 and package name is "com.tcl.partnercustomizer".
