Likely bad news for MiBox 3 Oreo fixes, from Xiaomi.eu

seems like some of these fixes needs Google to do some work on also and that's why Xiaomi is holding back now.

good thing they fixed those external hard drives so fast.. I mean the remote not working sometimes and not waking up from sleep sometimes and the audio issues are not box breaking but external storage is.

I put a lot of blame on Google too. My next product will be AppleTV. AndroidTV could be great, but Google doesn't care about it and Xiaomi has no Western support.

All in all, I lucked out by not having bugs, except for that Accessibility bug that is probably on Google to fix.

Aaaaaand, looks like the thread has been deleted.

I'm not going to copy/paste the contents, but while Google's cache still holds it, it's here:

definitely bad news but when i read the title, i assumed the box would stay in its current state. eventual fixes are better than no fixes. just wish my router/mibox didn't start with this wifi disconnected shit. i feel like that's the biggest outstanding bug (affecting the most people, not a majority of people). my lan usb stopped working too but i doubt too many have that problem as i see a lot still work.

Thanks Google. This is about the quality level I've come to expect from products with your OS on them. The MiBox was my first AndroidTV box and it'll be my last. One and done.

Ive just purchased a mi tv, dont know if i should already be regretting it.

Do i update to oreo or not, theres so little choice for androidtv device

Mi Box Oreo works great for me, but this isn't surprising. Eventually I'll upgrade to an NVIDIA Shield TV 3rd gen or something but right now everything works well. I never plan on buying another Xiaomi product after this.

I have my only MiBox 3 on a spare TV in the guest bedroom. It works fine for its purpose of streaming DTVNow, Hulu, Plex, Netflix, Kodi via the TVs speakers. The other 2 TVs which have surround sound have Nvidia Shields for usage.

I don't get what the bad news is... What update were we expecting? Can someone explain?

Apparently he should have kept his mouth shut, he deleted the topic LOL

In addition to the audio bugs, I've found a rather insidious audio bug; dropouts. Regardless of output (HDMI, analog, Bluetooth) regardless of source (Netflix, Kodi, Spotify) every so often, an audio glitch. The only output I haven't tested is optical audio, but my hopes are dim that anyone will even report this, let alone that it will ever be fixed.

To the person who said "stop making this a witch hunt about Xiaomi", I can give you about 12 things they did that are UNACCEPTABLE with this release, don't EVEN get me started. We're free to seek repairs for things that are broken, we paid money to Xiaomi. I guess you maybe misspelled "class action lawsuit" as "witch hunt".

Guys, most problems go away after a RECOVERY MENU factory reset.

Quoting from another post: Unplug the Mibox, and after plugging it back in while it's booting press the center DPAD key (ENTER or OK key) and at the same time the BACK key. Select factory reset option from recovery menu.

Not all problems go away, but the box becomes usable again.

Although, I don't have many issues as of now with MiBox, but one thing I learnt all this while is this. Any media box that is not Apple is a crapfest, or eventually will become one. I've had a few and none satisfied me as much. I think I should now forget buying anything other than Apple TV .

Call me whatever you may, but I don't have any time for all this customization nonsense, and making sense of hundreds of ways you can do this and that... Apple TV out of box is sufficient enough to handle many things and back up their products unlike Google.

I am not an Apple fan boy, if at all it sounds like, but I can't equally trash their products having used them quite a few.

Good luck with Android this, Android that...
