Fix Mi Box Voice without factory reset

I've upgraded to the latest version of Oreo. After the upgrade to Oreo the voice mic stopped working. Is there a way to fix this without having to perform a factory reset? I don't want to spend an hour installing everything again.. bah. Tried to remove the remote and reinstall, but without any luck

A Factory reset will resolve your issue. There is no quick fix.

Jumping 2 levels of firmware without judicious application of factory reset is asinine and goes against time-honored well established best practices.

The way I fixed it is unpair the remote then pair again.
