Go with the Shield.
If you want the best experience, get the Shield. It's hand over fist what Android TV should be. If your budget brings you down to Mi Box territory, you are better off with a Roku 4.

Any other 'android tv box' is just pure overpriced shit.
Get a Telus pik tv box. I have 3 of them, they work great. Don't need Telus pik tv service, just bypass to use as an Android tv box.
If you plan on watching 4K content mainly, get the shield. Mibox will be fine for 1080p. I have both and I use Shield as a primary box but the remote is horrible, Mibox remote is better.

Have a Shield and a Beelink both work awesome. Beelink thinks it's android phone. So any apk that works on a phone works on Beelink. Get an air mouse you will need it.
Shield is above and beyond the rest. Mi box is middle of the road.
Chigz Tech Reviews (a youtube reviewer) has this list . Shield is #1 by a lot, Mi box is #39. Everything in the list has a reasonably in-depth review linked in the last column.
I went with the Shield myself. Geforce Now is a nice perk, no other box has it.
If you got the money, the Shield.
If not, the Mi box is a decent box for the price. Can do 1080p with a breeze. Can do 4k Netflix but might struggle with full quality 4K BluRay rips.
