One option is to upgrade to the latest beta firmware. I have 2 MiBox and upgraded one to test. So far it's good. YouTube does not stutter anymore after leaving system on for a few days. The weird color issue with Chrome tab casting is also gone.
If you just purchased it, return it while you can. Trust me.
I know I'm late to the party but why not just use a usb to ethernet adapter?

There is a beta ota a few posts down that is supposed to fix this issue. I'm just waiting for the official ota release. But manually flashing it is an option for the brave. (Note I have not used the beta so I cannot guarantee it's success.)
