Nvidia Shield TV Home screen request

by Datboi459

I would like to know if there is anyone on here who can add the ability to add some lines of code to Shield TV stock os so that it would be possible to have more than 2 rows of apps on the home screen. I am thinking it wouldn't be hard as there are developers who make custom firmware for the Shield TV. If you can or know someone who is a developer or coder and can make this happen i am willing to donate. Thank you

It would be far simpler to create an app that generates custom channels. Then fill each channel with intent launchers.

Ya your best bet is to purchase an app like Sideload Channel Launcher. I think it's about $2 in the Play Store.

Lets you create custom channels and place any apps on them.
Only thing I don't like is you're limited to "square tiles" or "large tiles".
The tiles are kind of large and I wish they could be resized to the same size that the app row at the top uses.

See what I mean here: https://i.imgur.com/z9aWwv0.png

The 2nd row is created by the app. The tiles are pretty big as you can see and they are even larger when you hover over them. If only you could make them smaller.

It's a stupid UI, but Google wouldn't change it. The update to Oreo will make it better (but still an amateur UI and to fill out the screen it needs apps that properly support channels... but they put ads masked as "recommendations").

You can use a launcher to fix Google's UI, but unfortunately Google removed the option to set it as default, so it's kinda pointless.
