Help, cannot cast from pc to tv

I have a Sony x90e, and its connected to the wifi network. same as my laptop. Ive connected the laptop to a second monitor, but want to cast the same to the tv too.

Ive tried going to the settings and adding the tv, even then the laptop isnt listed in the tv's devices, though my android phone's easily listed. Im not getting the option to project to tv from the right side devices popout menu.

Im using windows 8.0 64bit, and unfortunately chrome isnt working for me. I can only use firefox. Please tell me what im missing guys, i have no difficulty casting from the phone.

As others have said. Install Google chrome and the Chromecast extension.

To my knowledge of using my chromecast which i assume is similar to an Android OS TV I can only cast from my laptop to the TV if it’s through Chrome.

What do you mean Chrome isn't working for you? Like it's not working as an application on your machine or you have a working install of Chrome that just won't cast properly? If it's just not casting properly and the browser works fine otherwise, then it's a problem with just casting. Chrome works fine. Casting doesn't. If you're connected via wifi, then maybe your router is isolating your laptop from other devices. (AP isolation)

MUST use Chrome in order to cast. Other browsers do not work. Also, who still uses Windows 8? LOL Happy casting ;-)
