Is it possible to upgrade Android Tv 6.0 to 7.0?

by glnxhjeh

Hey folks,

Im thinking of buying a new TV which will be a Philips. Now theres two models in which I am interested however there is one question I have. Both TV's are similar, one is just a newer model which comes with Android TV 7.0 out of the box but is $130 more expensive. The other one is the same but an older model with Android TV 6.0. Is it possible to upgrade 6.0 to 7.0?

If the manufacturer has a 7.0 build for it, then you can get 7.0.

I always recommend just buying a TV on picture quality alone. Then you can attach whatever you want and upgrade it whenever you need. TVs should last longer than streaming boxes.

Try googling it to check if there has been any update for the specific model. That will depend on the manufacturer releasing the update. Without a specific model name there's not really a way to know.

Edit: from friends who have Android TV's there's usually one major update, but not sure if it's mandatory, so googling is really the best option.

I have Philips TV. All the Philips TV's which were going to be updated to 7.1.2 have been updated. Only these TV's will be updated to Oreo 8.0. So watch out if that cheaper TV is still on 6.0, it's possibly from a very old batch that is not going to be upgraded.

check the model number online against the support website to see what version firmware was last released

allthose tv's have update to 7.1.2
