I've been using MX player for a while but sometimes it messes up in Terrarium. I know there's VLC, what's your favorite and why?

Plex.
Archos. For me it's a simpler and more robust alternative to Kodi.
Kodi, I use it just as media player (I don't use any plugin), it's simply the most stable on Android TV, whenever Plex doesn't play something correctly, Kodi does it.
Kodi.
It has best player and subtitle controls.
SPMC 17.6a2
Pretty much an optimized Kodi Krypton for AndroidTV and more stable/addon-compatible than Kodi Leia.
Kodi. Plex is just annoying.
MX Player Pro with the DTS/AC3 codec pack. Plays anything and everything, the most customizable interface, couples with file browsers like MiXPlorer, ES File Explorer, etc to play videos directly over your network.
Nplayer because has Google Drive support and it's better than Archos in my opinion.

VLC - for viewing of random media off a flash drive or something. Have X-plore set to open VLC by default.
Kodi - for my entire media library.
MrMC
A Kodi fork which Koying (dev of SPMC) joined the development of. No Kodi addons though, which doesn’t bother me. It plays everything I throw at it and refresh rate and resolution switching both work great.
Kodi or any fork of Kodi remain the best media player for Android TV. As far as something that can be used in Terrarium, VLC could be better than MX but it's doubtful your issues are being caused by the player.
Kodi
Terrarium works well with yes player and sometimes vlc
PLEX or bust man!!! Down vote to KODI!
Kodi.
I have all my inputs setup for various folders on my NAS.
It's able to stream any file and size without issue and organizes everything and keeps track of what you've watched and were you left off.
Also it's simple enough for my wife to use, which is a big plus.
