What's planned for Android TV in 2019 : Far-Field Microphone, fast updates with Treble, etc

Found this very interesting talk hosted by Accedo with a panel of experts from Google, Amino and ThinkAnalytics.

What's most interesting is what's said by Mark Seidenfeld, Head of Android TV Business Development, APAC. So the talk is mostly about the operator side of Android TV.

Glad to hear Google continue to expand and support the ATV platform.

Now I just want a new Pixel Player.

I want more options for Android TV devices.

All we have are the nVidia Shield, which is pricey, and the Mi Box. Nothing else. We need more.

I think the issue is manufacturers putting shit SoC in their TVs. No matter how lean android is, it ain't gonna run well if makers keep ripping off us

grumble they took away camera api's, just to have nvidia put it back proprietary (for tellybean), just to put it back.

much like how they took away notifications, just to put it back.

much like how they took away the app drawer, just to put it back.

too much churn.

Why do they keep developing Android TV if they're not going to release a new Android TV device? My Nexus Player is really getting old...

Project treble might allow me to consider another manufacturer, but Nvidia is obscenely overpriced for a non-gamer, and it seems like the few other options are mediocre at best.
