My MiBox is almost useless after the Oreo update, even with the beta update installed the wifi still getting disconnected.
What would be recommened to buy instead of the MiBox that's in the same price range more or less.
I know people will say Nvidia Shield, but for my opinion I think it's too pricey for something like Android TV.
Any other suggestions?
Find and apply latest bugfix build 2179.
Perform full factory reset to clear out any conflicting settings and start fresh

You should buy new wifi because the beta fix has already fixed pretty much everyones issues with wifi. So most likely it's your issue and not the mi box.
You can also get the Xiaomi "original" for it via eBay for about $12 US if you don't mind waiting on delivery from China. Mine worked great with MM and survived the Oreo update as well.
You could try buying an AmazonBasics USB3 NIC . I have one on my MiBox and it works just fine.
