PSA: If your Mibox has unexpected bugs on Oreo, a factory reset will fix 99% of your problems.

Unplug the Mibox, and after plugging it back in while it's booting press the center DPAD key (ENTER or OK key) and at the same time the BACK key. Select factory reset option from recovery menu.

I reset mine as soon as I did the update, but I still have issues with waking from sleep. 😴

My biggest set of gripes:

  1. Screen resolution randomly resets on wake
  2. Netflix sometimes doesnt work upon wake, needing a complete reboot

Let me try this. No harm no foul I guess.

Can't you just do it through the settings menu? Unless it doesn't boot at all why do this?

You should also find and flash latest bugfix build 2179. Quashes many bugs, including many referenced in this thread.

From Android Recovery menu, performing 'wipe data/factory reset' is quicker that navigating to settings menu from desktop.

Even more effective if you plan to flash an update.zip file as that is possible without the awkward button push while powering on gymnastics.

You can employ ADB over Wifi provided USB Debugging is enabled under Developer options.

adb reboot recovery will start recovery menu

Wishful thinking going on here.

Nothing will Fix buggy Chipset and seller supplied Firmware until AMLogic and Xiaomi get off their collective asses and release to the widespread, general public, bug busted Firmware updates.

Google can then distribute such updates via their normal OTA update process.

My box started crashing after the update and factory resetting fixed it.
