Does the nvidia Shield MIC work with Store APPS?

Some of the Android TV boxes, like the MiBox (my current device), have problems to use the MIC in every different scenario than the Google Assistant.

I'm trying to find a device that has the MIC feature enabled for APPs, since I'm developing an Android TV app that needs MIC usage.

I've been thinking about getting an NVIDIA SHIELD. I know that the remote has an integrated MIC and it can be used with Google Assistant, but does any of you know if the MIC will work for example, inside a third party APP?

On any Android TV you can use the remote on any app that supports it. YouTube is an example.

I hate voice search, so never use it, but I heard Oreo forces universal searches outside of an app.
