With the Android 8 update, a message showed up asking to choose a home screen app. I picked TVLauncher, a 3rd party app. Now I can’t get back to default home screen at all; no access to Settings. Is there a way to change this?

Updated my Mi Box (US; 1st gen) with Android 8. A message asked to choose a home screen app; I picked TVLauncher, a 3rd party app. Now I can’t get back to default home screen at all; no access to Settings. Is there a way to change back?

Clear defaults for TVLauncher in app info

Go to play store and download another launcher.. then it’ll give you the option to repick.

What device?

So does this mean that we can finally set custom launchers as default again on Oreo?

FYI the message appears on its own, not because I went into Settings to tinker with it.

When this happened to me I asked Google Assistant via the microphone on the remote to open settings. Then once in settings I was able to fix it.

I found the settings CAN be accessed in TVLauncher’s menu. But still no way I can return to default home page. I’ve now done a factory reset....

The best bet is what Ekos said.

I will be try to install a third party launcher and hopefully I get it as default.

This is why people post "mi box is crap" threads. They mess with system settings then when something else stops working, they blame the mi box and call it junk.

Not saying you did this. Just saying a lot of people who blame the mi box first because of something they did, do it.

NVIDIA Shield, ok?
