I just bought a MiBox from Walmart and got it home and it's in Chinese

by shrivel

This was a new-in-the-box MiBox and it's in Chinese from the very first start. I managed to get the language changed to English using a guide on Youtube, but the OS is clearly not AndroidTV and it's still got Chinese text and apps all over it. Is there a way to get this to the US version's OS? I tried the system update, but it says it's up to date.

Should I just return it?

Just return it. What you got wasn't the correct one.

Someone probably did the old switch-a-roo returned a Chinese version and put that in the box.

What model number is it? Should say on the bottom. The official international version is MDZ-16-AB

You probably got it from a 3rd party seller as Walmart stores arent selling them anymore.

My Walmart has them currently.. walked passed one not even an hour ago.

Just curious. What was the price in the store?

Is Walmart not longer ordering new orders? Anyone know? Got a bunch of people wanting to buy one locally

Isnt there a place where you can get the global rom and flash it?

Just get the model MDZ-16-AB I got it for $60 on Aliexpress. No issues.
