Staples clearing out Nvidia Shield Stock

by AsteroidCosmic

According to Slickdeals (link below), Staples is clearing out stock for the Nvidia Shield and some accessories. Could this mean that a new shield is on the way? Maybe to join the market with the couple new Android TV boxes that seams that could be released soon.

Unlikely. Might mean Staples is attempting to exit that particular market segment, or it's a condition of a marketing agreement with Roku or Amazon.

My staples showing reg price. Has anyone else confirmed it? Sounds fishy.

ChrebetEighty

Was an Amazon Prime Day item, and bestbuy has had sales here and there. I think this is a pretty sound theory.

Damn, I wish I had a Staples nearby.

This has to mean a new Shield is incoming, doesn't it? I don't see Nvidia exiting this market, considering it's been really good to them.

Oh, I've always been interested in these but never able to justify one for my Chromecast enabled TV. This would be pretty justifiable. I miss having a handheld remote and just browsing stuff on the big screen. Do these have HDMI passthrough? I only have one 4k HDMI port (I think, the whole concept got pretty confusing).

FML - no staples closer than 200 miles

Damn I wanted one but this dude cleared out the central Los Angeles stock.. 😡

ScrewAttackThis

Can anyone confirm that this is an actual deal?

xtrmbikin

Possible. Didn't Nvidia kinda post a hint that Dolby Vision is something they would or have considered. I would love to see an updated box with HDMI 2.1.

rhpot1991

Online only according to the website, so OP's store probably had a few returns that they put on clearance.

I heard people hacking the switch are about to get thwarted by some hardware fuses that have been added to the chips that once broken would somehow prevent people from downgrading their firmware. Maybe because of that nvidia is now exclusively making this new version of the X1 and it's going to release as the same device but maybe a different SKU.

... and it's gone!

PalebloodSky

This is probably fake, Staple's website doesn't show this at all.
