Mi box vx Nvidia Shield

by petrikez

Hello everyone. I want to ask. I have Mi box 3, Samsung MU7002 TV. I use the video stream plug-in in Kodi. When I want a stream in 4k hdr, the video is playing for a while, then it just loads. I had a 100Mb speed, an increase of 200Mb, the ac router, still the same. Is Mi Box 3 suitable for this stream? Or better buy Nvidia Shield? Does Shield have a better picture in hdr? Thank you for every answer.

Don't know the specific cause of your problem, but the Nvidia Shield has better specs and higher benchmark scores. There's a ton of comparisons on the web, YouTube, and here on Reddit. Hands down, the Nvidia Shield is a better device. That being said, the Mi Box is fine for basic streaming and those who are limited in their technical exposure.

I don’t have a 4Ktv or hdr so I can’t comment. But as the other person said the nvidia is a far stronger box. I would go to YouTube and look up the reviews by lontv (possibly Lon.tv), of the minix and of the shield. He does benchmarks and 4K streams and Blu-ray rip stream tests. They are quite thorough. He uses a shield so there are lots of his videos on aspects of the shield but he does have specifically reviews. It may lead to you being able to evaluate with more info. I have a shield. It’s great. Remote is t great but other than that it’s great.

The Shield is also a gaming console with a lot of free games. In case it is a factor. My boys are loving it.

Sigh, the Mi Box.... Has the buggiest Android TV Oreo firmware of any box on the market.

WiFi and passthrough audio are absolute mess with Oreo.

You should not be using AC WiFi for 4K HDR high bitrate video playback anyway, in pristine lab conditions it might be reliable.

4K HDR needs Gigabit Ethernet and stable Firmware = NVIDIA Shield.
