I have a fan theory... (X-Post /r/Chromecast)

So I have a fan theory, and I want to see if anyone else thinks it's plausible.

So you know how Google released the ADT-1 at I/O this year? Well that was an ATV platform, but it surely looked like a Chromecast device, didn't it?

We also saw the Chromecast come back through the FCC with some boosted internals and the addition of Bluetooth. For a Bluetooth remote, maybe?

My theory: Oct 9th, Google will release a new Android TV with a Chromecast form factor with 4k in tow.

TL;DR: New Android TV dongle on Oct 9 with Pixel launch.

On one hand, I wish it were true. On the other, the ADT2 has the 905x chipset, and that chipset is so weak! Why oh why they keep pushing it!

Possible - would make sense - the hardware event is going to be massive this year. New Pixel-branded phones, Chromebooks, Assistant Products and a ton of other stuff - we can dream.

I actually think that a new AndroidTV is going to be released during the Google Event, but not from Google. I think it is likely that the new MiBox will be released at this event. Also, I can see them announcing the other box that went trough FCC. I think it makes sense to announce them in collaboration with Google in order to revamp the AndroidTV availability.

Totally unsupported fantasy.
